It was a long journey, this Sefer Torah was donated several months ago, by a synagogue in New Jersey US. Rabbi Sjimon collected it and took it back to his home in New York.
Last week he and his wife took the Sefer Torah and mantles all carefully boxed up, to Nairobi on their way to Entebbe. Sadly, events took a turn for the worse and Rabbi Sjimon had to return to Holland as his father had just passed away.
The Torah was then handed over to Rickson a Jewish friend living in Nairobi. He in turn, took it by road to Uganda where it’s safely now being looked after by KKSY community who are thrilled to have received it and to give it a new home.
