Our charity SJUA continues to work and support the 335 strong Sephardi community in Uganda. The past 12 months or more, have been unlike any other. Kahal Kadosh She’erit Yisrael (KKSY) and its sister communities have been, and still are, struggling through the current plague.
This plague reminds us of Passover, which this year, commences with the Haggadá on Saturday night, March 27. On that night, our brothers and sisters in Uganda will be coming together to eat, sing, and pray as one big family. During Pesaḥ, we remember when the Hebrew nation fled from their enslavement by Pharaoh in Egypt. We also remember the fleeing Israelites who were told to bake unleavened bread, known as maṣṣót (or matzos). KKSY will bake their very own maṣṣót and chant songs to celebrate the importance of the Passover Festival which lasts for 8 days, ending April 4.
Particularly in times of hardship, KKSY looks to SJUA for advice, guidance, and support. Only with your support can we continue the work that we do. May we invite you to please donate whatever you can, via the PayPal button below knowing that 100% of your money goes to KKSY to cover the escalating costs of food, education, and health.
I want to say a particular thank you to World Jewish Relief who work so hard to support and encourage our farmers. Also, a big thank-you to my fellow SJUA Board Members, for their tireless efforts.
I wish a happy and meaningful Passover
חג פסח מבורך ושמח
