Why do Jews eat Apples and Honey at Rosh Hashana?
One of the most popular Rosh Hashana customs involves eating apples slices dipped in honey, sometimes eateb after saying a special prayer. Ancient Jews beleived apples had important healing properties and the honey signifies the hope that the new year will be sweet. Other sweet foods are all eaten such as honey cake, figs, and locally sourced sweet foods. Red grape juice or sweet wine is consumed at this time of the year.
